The Xoopit for Gmail service and the Xoopit web service closed down on November 13, 2009.

  • Why did we close the Xoopit for Gmail service?

Xoopit teamed up with Yahoo! in July 2009. We are excited to be making the world's best email platform a fantastic place to see and share photos, and decided that the best way to make that happen is to focus on our effort on Yahoo! Mail. We’re sad to say goodbye to our users on Gmail but we know that we will not be able to keep investing in our Xoopit for Gmail product, and didn't want you to end up with a lousy experience.

  • Where are all my photos and files?

They are still in Gmail! Xoopit indexed all of its content in Gmail. Unless you actually have deleted your Gmail photos (not archive, but delete) all your content should still be there. See below for some hints on finding it in Gmail.

  • Will Gmail customers’ data be deleted from Xoopit servers?

Your data is no longer available to you as of November 13, 2009. Xoopit will no longer have access to your data as of February 11, 2010.

  • What’s happening to Xoopit?

Xoopit is alive and well as the My Photos application in Yahoo! Mail. Expect a lot more from us and Yahoo! Mail in the future. If you like using email to share and store photos we suggest you try out Yahoo! Mail.

  • I had pictures posted to my blog. What happened to them?

These pictures are no longer supported or available.

  • How do I remove the Firefox Addon?

In order to remove the addon, please go to the Firefox menu: Tools->Add-ons and click the Uninstall button on the Xoopit for Gmail row.

  • Are there Gmail features that can help me?

Yes! The following Gmail Labs features may help with your migration away from Xoopit.

    • Search AutoComplete
    • YouTube previews in mail
    • Picasa previews in mail
    • Flickr previews in mail
    • Google Search

You can also do searches like "filename:(jpg OR png)" (to see all the emails that have photo attachments) or "has:attachments" (for all the emails with attachments). See Gmail's page on Advanced Search for more details. You won’t have the exact same experience as Xoopit, but it will help.

  • What happened to the Facebook connection?

This feature is no longer supported as of November 13, 2009.

  • What happened to the search box on Compose?

This feature is no longer supported as of November 13, 2009.
